About
Clear writing about hard, hopeful things
Higher Place is a not-for-profit publication. We write about psychedelic therapy and mental health for people who want neither hype nor dismissal — just careful, humane, honest information.
Why we exist
This is a field crowded with both extravagant promises and reflexive scorn. Patients and families are left to navigate between them, often at the worst moment of their lives. We think the most useful thing a publication can do is hold a steady middle: take the science seriously, take the uncertainty seriously, and take the reader seriously.
What we publish
Long-form essays that take their time, and practical guides that help you ask better questions. We do not sell treatment, run retreats, or recommend that anyone use anything. We explain.
How we work
We take no advertising and sell nothing. Higher Place is funded by readers who can give, so that it stays free for readers who can’t. That model is the whole point: good information about psychedelic care should not be a luxury good.
We would rather say “we don’t know yet” accurately than say something exciting quickly.
A word of caution
Nothing here is medical advice. Much of this research is early. If you are unwell, the most important relationship is with a clinician who knows your history — our guide to that conversation is a good place to start.
Reader-supported, non-profit
Good information about psychedelic care should belong to everyone.
Higher Place takes no advertising and sells nothing. We exist because people give what they can so this writing stays free, accurate and unhurried.
